WOMAN . . .

Now what about woman, a new friend to me;

Who has lately been freed of a lens I used, see?

A woman who was, ‘til just lately, invalid.

A being fraught with shallowness, passionless, and squalid. . .

I pray it's not most women, on life’s track encountered,

That I treated as chattel, belittled, discounted.

I count as regret many times that we met

And you paid your dear price for my sad selfish mindset.

Whom I betrayed in a real sense as the Christian did Moslem,

. . .Oaths "sworn to the infidel" were valueless dust film.

It makes for long nights as an upcoming light

Shows my error, my blunder -- my cognitive blight.
